Agentic Engineer (Jakarta)

About Us

We The Flywheel (WTF) is a private digital product studio active across sports media, technology, fitness, and personal branding. We operate 500+ web properties across 42 markets and are deeply embedded in AI-native workflows. Our HQ is remote-first with team members in Vietnam, Europe, the Balkans, and Latin America.

What We're Really Hiring For

AI does the heavy lifting here — but AI is the leverage, not the point. We hire for the human layer on top of it: ingenuity, judgment, taste, and strategic thinking — the perspective a model can't have. The people who thrive here use AI to move fast, then apply the real human intelligence that makes the output genuinely good. If your instinct is to prompt-and-ship without thinking critically, this isn't the fit.

The Role

"Agentic engineering" means you use AI coding agents — Claude Code, Cursor, Aider, Codex — to build and ship real software. But you're an engineer, not a prompt operator: you bring genuine technical understanding and ingenuity, design the approach, and think critically about how to get the best out of the agents. You don't need to be a professional developer, but you should have done some hands-on building before and understand how the pieces fit — databases, frameworks, integrations, and APIs.

You'll build tailored solutions across our product portfolio — features, scripts, content automations, micro-products — thinking through the design rather than pasting whatever the model returns. Senior engineers will pair with you on the harder bits. Remote from Jakarta or anywhere in Indonesia, async-first; we sync once a week.

The work of an Agentic Engineer

What You'll Do

  • Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Aider, Codex CLI) to ship features, scripts, and automations that actually work and hold up
  • Build tailored solutions, not prompt-and-hope — think through the design, structure the work, and make deliberate technical choices instead of pasting whatever the model returns
  • Orchestrate agents intelligently — decompose problems, set the agents up to succeed, and read their output critically until it's right
  • Work across our stack with real understanding of how the pieces fit — databases, frameworks, integrations, and APIs
  • Commit working code, review your own work, and raise the bar on how the team works with AI
  • Pair with senior engineers on the harder problems

Who You Are

  • Basic technical foundation — you've done at least some light development before and understand core architecture: databases, frameworks, integrations, APIs. Not a professional developer, but not starting from zero
  • Ingenuity and strategic thinking — real human intelligence on the problem, not just AI via prompts
  • Deeply curious about AI with heavy daily use; a fast, self-directed learner; honest about gaps; a persistent, critical iterator
  • Strong, and progressively stronger, written and spoken English — meeting-ready online now, in-person with team and clients as you grow
  • Set up to work from any modern laptop — no specific hardware required. We run through Discord and a cloud AI engine, so the heavy lifting happens server-side, not on your machine.

Experience (Preferred, Not Required)

  • Any shipped artifact you can point at — a script, a Notion automation, a static site, a Replit demo, a Cloudflare Worker
  • Heavy use of an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Aider, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Replit Agent)
  • Comfort with the command line, Git/GitHub, and at least one publish target (Vercel, Replit, Cloudflare Pages)
  • Background in any field where you've had to learn fast and ship under constraints
  • Familiarity with local LLM runtimes (Ollama, LM Studio, MLX) is a bonus, not a must
